Steel Fabrication Sydney

Staircases, balustrades, fencing and gates — from clean structural steel to wrought iron scrollwork, welded and finished in our own workshop.

The service

Steel for the jobs that have to carry weight

When a piece has to be structural, hold a span, or look like it was made a century ago, steel is the answer. We fabricate both — the clean modern kind and the ornate kind.

Steel is stronger and stiffer than aluminium, which is what makes it the right material for staircase stringers, long balustrade runs with minimal posts, heavy driveway gates and anything carrying real load. It also takes heat beautifully, so it can be bent, curved and hand-formed into shapes aluminium simply won't hold — which is why every wrought iron balustrade you've admired is steel.

The catch with steel is corrosion, and we take that seriously. Outdoor steelwork is prepared, primed and coated properly so it doesn't start weeping rust down your render in two summers' time.

Material

Why choose steel for your Sydney project

There are jobs where nothing else will do — and jobs where steel is simply the better looking answer.

Genuine structural strength

Carries loads aluminium can't — stair stringers, cantilevered landings, long spans and heavy gates that still stay true.

It can be shaped by hand

Heated, bent and scrolled into curves and detail work — the decorative balustrades that make a staircase the centrepiece of a house.

Security you can feel

Heavier sections and welded joints make steel the sensible choice for security gates, grilles and front boundary fencing.

Protected to last outside

Prepared, primed and coated for Sydney conditions — the difference between steelwork that ages well and steelwork that stains your wall.

Our capabilities

What we fabricate in steel

Curved steel staircase with ornate wrought iron balustrade and timber-look treads Staircases

Steel Staircases

Straight flights, quarter and half landings, spirals and sweeping curved stairs. We fabricate the structural stringers and can supply the stair as a complete package with your chosen balustrade, ready for the treads to go on. Internal feature stairs and practical external access stairs both.

Steel Balustrades

From minimal flat bar and vertical blade to full hand-formed wrought iron scrollwork for period and luxury homes. Stairs, landings, voids, balconies and external steps. Heights and infill spacings are set to suit the relevant Australian Standards for your application — we confirm what applies at the measure.

Steel Fencing

Front boundary fencing, security fencing, infill panels and retaining-wall topping. Tubular, flat bar, spear top and custom patterns, stepped to follow sloping sites so the top line stays level.

Black steel double gates with wrought iron scrollwork panels and an arched scroll topper Gates

Steel Gates

Driveway gates, pedestrian gates and security gates — swing, double or sliding, and ready for automation if you want it. Built on heavy hardware and braced so wide gates don't sag out of square over time.

Our process

How your steel job gets made

01

Measure & assess

We measure the opening or stair void on site and check the fixing substrate — brick, concrete or timber all change how we anchor it.

02

Design & detail

Section sizes, infill pattern, scroll detail and finish are agreed up front. For decorative work we'll walk you through the options.

03

Weld & finish

Cut, welded and dressed back in our workshop, then prepared and coated so the steel is protected before it ever leaves.

04

Install

Set out, fixed and levelled on site by our team, with welds touched up and the area left clean.

Why choose us

Welds you'd be happy to look at

Steelwork is judged up close. On a staircase balustrade, people run their hand along your welds every single day.

  • Welds dressed back. Ground and finished so joints disappear instead of announcing themselves.
  • Decorative work done properly. Scrollwork formed and fitted by hand, not bought in as stamped panels.
  • Corrosion taken seriously. Proper preparation and coating on anything that lives outdoors.
  • Braced so it stays true. Wide gates and long runs engineered not to sag or rack.
  • Pairs with our other trades. Steel frame, aluminium infill, glass panel — all from one workshop.

Questions

Steel fabrication FAQs

Should I use steel or aluminium?

Steel when you need structural strength, security, or a decorative wrought iron look. Aluminium when the piece is fully exposed to weather and you want the lowest possible maintenance. We fabricate both in the same workshop, so there's no incentive for us to push you either way — we'll just tell you what suits the job.

Will steel rust outdoors in Sydney?

Untreated steel will. Properly prepared and coated steel lasts for decades — the protection system matters far more than the steel itself. We'll recommend the right treatment for how exposed your site is, and coastal jobs get a different spec to an inland courtyard.

Can you make a curved or spiral staircase?

Yes. Curved strings and spiral stairs are fabricated to the specific rise and going of your opening. They take longer than a straight flight and need a careful site measure, but the result is usually the feature piece of the whole house.

Do you do traditional wrought iron scrollwork?

We do — it's some of our favourite work. Scroll patterns, collars, twisted balusters and curved handrails, formed and fitted to your staircase rather than assembled from off-the-shelf panels. Bring us a photo of the style you like.

Can you match existing steelwork on my house?

Usually, yes. Send photos and measurements of what's already there and we'll work out how close we can get on pattern, section size and colour — whether you're extending a fence run or replacing one damaged gate.

Do you supply only, or install as well?

Both. Most jobs we fabricate and install ourselves. If you're a builder who just needs supply to site, say so when you enquire and we'll quote it that way.
